- Andamiro Korean Bistro
Atmosphere and décor
On a chilly evening, after finishing a class with intense hunger, our team searched for a restaurant, and one member suggested a Korean restaurant to fill our empty stomachs, then we chose Adamiro Korean Bistro located on Kingsway.
Because we had not pre-booked a table, we had to wait for the waitresses to arrange a table, (but very quickly, we had one). The restaurant space is cozy with dim yellow lights, along with the busy attendants serving diners for guests.
While waiting for setting up the table, we looked around the restaurant, the thing I liked the most was the shop’s décor was very cute and Korean style. There was also a little awesome playground for kids that had a small version of Iron man.
Many decorations such as Mickey Mouse and old-fashioned telephone used to brighten up for the restaurant. On the side of our table, they put many kinds of old machines which were not used anymore, they were just the memory.
The overall restaurant was clean but the table we sat, had some oiled spot left after the server cleaned and arranged us in. The dishes, spoons and chopsticks were shiny and clean. We didn’t have a chance to peep into the kitchen to see how it was, but we think with the display of our dishes, they must be carefully taken care of before bringing out.
It is hard to choose a Korean restaurant without my friend’s recommendation because there are lots of delicious Korean cuisines in Vancouver. That was Andamiro Korean Bistro. When we got a table, we will be served water and taken the time to choose the food. All of the food was placed on the table after 20 minutes. Even though it is served quickly, they finished serving as soon as the food is placed on the table. Moreover, it was difficult to order something more and need to wait for a long time as well. The restaurant was going to getting one minus point for that. It is probably overcrowded but only one staff there at that time, not enough to serve all the requirements of clients includes: taking orders, serving food, cleaning the table.
Food and beverage
According to Korean cuisine, Korean foods attract many people living in Vancouver with the diversity of foods, including appetizers, primary, and especially desserts. Andamiro Korean Bistro is the worth choice for people who never try the taste of Korean cuisine because there are many items on the menu that customers can spoil for choice. The owner suggests that the guest should try belly pork with seasoning noodle is the best sellers at all the time.
On a lovely evening, our group visited the Andamiro restaurant with a curious and excited mood because all of us are love Korean foods. We have ordered the items in the following order: Seafood pancake for the appetizer, Spicy octopus with tokbokki, Cold noodles, and Kimchi fried ramen noodles. Based on the personal opinions of each member, we evaluated that the taste of our food is excellent 4 over 5 points. The portion of the meals is enough for each person. The quality of the meals is very fresh, juicy, and bold taste, not spicy enough for those who want to eat medium spicy. The price is reasonable for most people enjoying lunch or dinner meals. The price estimates that around $12 to $32. They presented an eye-catching dish with the layout looking acceptable and delicious. They usually present a lot of small dishes to present original kimchi and seasoning kimchi as side dishes.
2. White Spot
We chose a nice day again, and the whole group was free, we chose a Western-style restaurant because the previous day we had chosen an Eastern-style restaurant. We wanted to enjoy the newer dishes then we chose White Spot as our destination this time. When we entered the restaurant with the engraved White Spot board, we were very impressed, maybe they applied Feng Shui, a Chinese décor technique when building this restaurant.
We arrived around 7.30 PM so the attendants were busy serving the guests for dinner. We also couldn’t go through the restaurant to see and take photos because of the privacy of guests; we just wrote the whole place where we sat.
This restaurant designed seating for each group of guests from 1-4 guests, and ensured the privacy of the group, so the restaurant uses partitions between the tables so that groups could do the gossip during the meal.
Similarly, both restaurants ensured guests’ coziness when they used most of the yellow lamps. They made us feel like home when entering the restaurants.
I will give 10/10 because they were perfect. The air smells nice, clean floor, clean table, shiny folks, white plates and even the table lamb has no stain on it.
It was the first time I’ve experienced at a Western cuisine with my friends on a recent day in Vancouver. The White spot is quite famous for the American service style and always brings the best quality of service. If comparing to Andamiro Korean Bistro, I can say I love everything at The White spot due to their professional service, even food satisfaction. In addition, they separate the servers into waiters and table cleaners. While the waiters just focus on receiving the orders, serving the food and giving the bills when customers request them, the cleaners only clean up everything on the table as well as make sure that the areas around the dining table is clean to continue to serve the next guests; thus, we did not have to wait long for orders and table arrangements. Moreover, taking care of clients was represented by asking us whether we needed anything else or was the food okay? All of those things are different from Andamiro Korean Bistro as well as small restaurants which I’ve experienced before.
Food and Beverage
Chicken salad is the perfect choice to begin the first meal of the day. The taste of this salad is exquisite for most people. The price is reasonable, and the portion is enough for two people.
The grilled salmon is typical in Western cuisine, which includes massive nutrition and easy to absorb all nutrients from the salmon meat. The taste of the grilled salmon dish at the White Pot restaurant is not impressive to our group much. We evaluate this food between 6 and 7. Based on the sauce, they need to change something in that sauce because it is not flavorful. It affects directly to guests’ experiences for the first time trying the meal.
The mashed potato was not clotted and too much creamy. The cauliflower was fresh and tastily but I prefer the round cauliflower. About the steak, it cooked with just-right medium rare, but it had a little too salty.
The ribs were great, its meat fell off the bone after one slice. The combination of the meat and sauce made it a perfect 10. Coleslaw and mashed potatoes were delicious as well. Nothing to complain about this plate.
